These are some photos of the exhibition (mentioned in earlier post) before the closing party.

A lot happened over the 3 weeks, performances, a ritual, a yoga class, video lounge and two parties.It was so fun!

Myself and a Bunch of friends just finished an evolving exhibition for ARTSPACE , as a part of their New Artist show.
 December will involve a group of new artists orchestrating an evolving exhibition Drinking from the fire hose. Rather than receiving individual recognition, the group experiments with collective authorship, including decision-making, negotiation, adjustments, and ultimately the shared ownership of the exhibition. Earlier in the year Riva encountered an exhibition initiated by this group of young artists, who are all at university together and was impressed by the energy and the rhythm of the show, from there she took the cue to invite them to do something similar at Artspace. Drinking from the fire hose will unfold from the initial planning to a closing exhibition finissage, with performances and events along the way.

Visualize swaying beaded curtains, deep green shag carpet and afternoon sunlight penetrating stained glass.

Furniture and ornaments made to echo ‘Bad Taste’ and ‘Styles’ of past eras...

Inspiration stems from examination and immersion into coastal stereotypes and subculture. This is considered in making and referenced through visual aesthetic. Think of delusional hippies wandering the beach collecting shells, beach bums so tan their skin almost purple, dripping water-dwellers basking on searing sand, salt encrusted counterculture…  Imagine interior décor inspired by Spicoli.
