December will involve a group of new artists orchestrating an evolving exhibition Drinking from the fire hose. Rather than receiving individual recognition, the group experiments with collective authorship, including decision-making, negotiation, adjustments, and ultimately the shared ownership of the exhibition. Earlier in the year Riva encountered an exhibition initiated by this group of young artists, who are all at university together and was impressed by the energy and the rhythm of the show, from there she took the cue to invite them to do something similar at Artspace. Drinking from the fire hose will unfold from the initial planning to a closing exhibition finissage, with performances and events along the way.
